I'm studying finacnial economics, so I am going to write one of the things I am studying about.

The change in the value of the call (N(d1)) and the change in the value of the put (N(d1)-1) partially offset each other because the call increases in value with the price of the underlying stock (ie it is more likely to payoff) and the put decreases in value (it is less likely to payoff)

Also, if you only goal was to hedge a long position in the DJIA, would you ever do that by going short both calls and puts as opposed to just shorting calls? You wouldnt because eaach unit of the portfolio costs more and you have to buy more of them in order to hedge your position.

Yeah, I'm in the class, and I still have no idea what it means,. I feel bad because I am being tested on this stuff tomorrow, andI could really care less about it. I know it is great information to know, but in all honesty, I want to own a plumbing company with my brother and build that. I want to have that lifestyle. I will hire someone who knows all this stuff to handle my money and make I am investing safe. So in that sense, I guess I really do not care that I am about to bomb one of my last important classes for my major. I should be trying a bit harder, I guess, but I really just do not want to know this stuff during my life, so I haven't apid attention all year. I don't see my last ditch study effort helping at all.....

I'm Stressed, but so are you

So school is getting harder and harder, and closer and cloaer to being over, so stress levels are high. On the other hand, my wife has been looking at ou bankaccount a lot more lately. She has been sick a lot lately and not being able to make it to work as much as we would both like, and me being super busy with school, I havent been able to make it to work as much as we both would like. But this friday, I decdied to fall a little behind in school to go to work all ay and lift her burden just a little bit, It is certainly not the biggesting thing on earth, but I feel like this life is made up of small gestures that make up a bigger whole.

That is really all I have to say about that, so I guess to write a bit more I will talk about how much I hate the BCS. I hate it a lot. College football has so much potential to be such a better thing, and this small group ruins it. It drives me nit because everyone complains about it every year, but no body does anything about it.

Driving to Utah makes me angry

I love driving away from Utah, but going to Utah always breeds anger. So many awful drivers on the road, and add the many more travellers due to Thanksgiving, it made it terrible. At least it wasn't snowy like it was last year. It took us 9 hours to drive home last year, we only had one accident that we got stuck in this time, so it only took us 6 hours. I am so glad that I only have to drive to Utah one more time in the next year or so. We will go home for Christmas, and then I really do not see myself going up to Utah for a long, long time. My wife may make me go up to Salt Lake to see her parents who go up there in the summers, but maybe, just maybe, we can get out of it. Maybe I can pay for a plane ticket for her to go up there by herself! That would make things so much easier on me. Because I am done making that drive after Christmas. UGh

Anyway, Thanksgiving was great. The food was incredible. It is offical, green bean cassorole and stuffing are my favorite things to eat, not just for thanksgiving, but probably for anything, They taste so freaking good. I am making myself so hungry right now.

It was really cool to see UNLV beat UNC yesterday. I'm usally not a college bball fan, but the closer I get to moving to Vegas, the more I am following UNLV bball. That win last night was huge for this city. It was also great to see a college powerhouse go down. It's always good to see the big dogs go down.

Okay, I think I have written enough for this week. This end of semester is going to be tough. I really do not think my grades are doing very well. So much for my prediction that knowing i have a job is going to make my grades get better. oh well

I don't even follow my own blog

Sick, sick sick sick sick. I've been so sick. I hate this time of year. I hate being sick. The jets are losing badly, and I do not want to go to school tomorrow. My fantasy team will lose its second straight!

On the good side, my bro still wants me to come work for him! I am excited to start working and getting things done in my life. My brother says its going to be lots of hard working, and going out and getting things done, but I am ready. I really hope the Lord will guide me to be a great worker and to provide for my family. I am excited to be in that part of my life with my wife. I am excited to be a daddy.

Other than that, a new video came out on Friday. It's called Skyrim. It is epic. It is this giant, open world game. You can literally go anywhere where you see. If there are mountains in the background, they arent just background. You can climb to the top of them! It takes forever!

school is getting tougher and tougher to care for. I need to fight through the mundane and just get through it! Moving home to VEGAS in 5 months!!!!

I HATE COLLEGE FOOTBALL RANKING SYSTEMS

Alabama falls to number three after losing to number one LSU. They were previously ranked #2. I do not understand, nor do I care anymore. I officially boycott college football until they implement a playoff.

Other than that, all is well. I hate school, but at least I will be done in April here in Provo. I will still have a few more classes to finish u before I graduate, but at least I will be out of Provo and living in Vegas where I want to be. I cannot wait to start working and making real money.

I'm excited for this weekend. A new game comes out on thursday midnight called Skyrim. I'm a huge nerd, please make fun of me. It is 5 years in the making. Something that has taken that long is going to be awesome.

We are getting very close to Thanksgiving. It will be the first time for us going to Vegas since the beginning of the school year. That is strange for me because we normally go home every few weeks. Money is getting tighter as school is getting closer to being done. It will be nice to eat lots of turkey, rolls, ham, and stuffing. Also, we always go shooting for thanksgiving. That is always joyful.

Also, its looking like the NBA season may not happen this year. That is going to cause me major depression after the NFL season is over. I will have NOTHING to keep me going in the winter.

I also turned off the Steelers Ravens game to watch the RSL Galaxy game. It must be the end of the world.

Why does everything always hit at once?

I think school needs to be staggerred better. Everything seems to be due on the same freaking day. I was just looking at the syllabus for this class, and it seems a rough draft of our lovely research paper is due on Wednesday. That is soooooo convenient because I have a test in my financial economics class. Nothing big right?

BAH

I am going to see my adviser this week. I may be able to graduate in April and then finish the rest of my credits on online through independant study. This is great news! I can finally be done with the school part of my life and move into the part of my life where i get a real job and start making real money. I am so excited.

Football was pretty boring this weekend. The Jets didn't play. Watching the world series was the highlight of my sports viewing week. That series between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers will be remembered forever. What a great series it was. It is great because I hate Texas sports teams. Everyone from Texas is so big headed, so it is nice to see them fail!

I'm bad I know.

All I want to do is get on with my life.

I am at this point in my life where I know what I am going to be doing when I graduate. If all goes well, I have a job lined up working for my older brother who bought the family plumbing company from my dad. I want to learn the odds and ends of the company so that I can add value to the company. I know that this is a very unique experience, and I am very grateful for this opportunity.

I'm in this finance class, and I am learning a lot about houses and cars. It is unbelieveable. I looked at semi luxurious hoses near where I grew up where i could get a mortgage of like $200 more a month than I pay now for rent. I want to buy my own home, and start doing all those awesome grown up things with my own house! Just thinking how I will have my OWN garage, and my OWN office is so cool to me. I need to buy a lawn mower and all that fancy lawn equipment. I am just so excited for this part of life, and all that separates me from this is 2 and a half more semesters of college. I love all the things I have learned, but with light at the end of the tunnel, it is getting tougher to care about finding derivatives and writing research papers. I guess this is all that life is about: enduring!

I cannot wait to have kids. I am scared todeath of them at the same time. I cannot even imagine that Heavenly Father trusts people to raise a little child. I have never changed a diaper before, and i refuse to until it is my own child. I may even vomit before I actually change that diaper. Who knows. Also, even before we get to that point, I will probably faint when my wife is giving birth. Scary stuff ahead for sure! Scary and exciting. I just want my own garage!

Buy someone a Coke

Shayne is crazy. He is telling us to be Christlike at BYU! What a weirdo.

So I work for the BYU Moving Crew. The building is located on University Ave and 2230 North in provo. If you are familiar with this road, it wraps around into the shoping center that Cafe Rio is located in. There are occasionally a few homeless people right there on the street with signs out. I stopped and gave the guy a five dollar bill. He seemed very happy, and grateful. It was a nice seeing his face brighten up a bit. I hope that he didn't use it for drugs or alcohol or smokes, but whatever he did use it for, at least I was able to helph someone out who is less fortuante than I am.

You gotta feel for those people. I wonder why they are in that situation? I wonder if they are just milking people, or if they get enough money to clean themselves up to go apply for a job. Either way, it is sad that one person resorts to begging. I need to be better at giving more to these people, and not think about what bad things they may do with the money.

Thanks for making us do this exercise Shayne, I got a good message out of it.

I Just Woke Up

do you know that feeling you get when you wake up from a long nap? Yeah, I am totally in that mode right now. I have heard it referred to a nap hangover before, and I feel like that is very appropriate. It fits, I guess. I don't know what a hangover is like, so maybe it doesnt fit at all, but that is for another day of discussion.

An AC/DC song just came on my itunes. I have had one of the most incredible feelings that music can give a person. I feel like it only can come to someone who has faithfully served a two year mission. No one else is entitled to this feeling. I grew up loving classic rock, and loving many other types of bands. I also played in a band in high school. I had as great of a love for music as the next person, and then I was asked to give it all up. This was probably the hardest part of my mission, and it realy wasn't even that hard. I know lots of missions that weren't very strict on the music rule, but my mission was very strict. WE could only listen to hymns or mo-tab. It got very repetitive, but I was obedient. IT was worth it. When I got home, and finally able to be alone, I rocked out. I got into a car and put in some old CDs. First song up was Led Zeppelin's Rock n Roll. It was like magic ran through my veins as my blood pumped. I then turned to Highway to Hell (yeah, the day I got home, I know, right?) by AC/DC. and seriously I felt like there was something in my veins that had been gone forever. It was magical. I felt alive! I had my entire life in front of me, and I could rock out the entire time. That was one of the more special moments in my life, so if it seemed dull here, its because I couldn't show you how I felt with the volume of the music. I promise it is incredible.

Another Sunday

General Conference was really good. It is weird that the further away from my mission I get, the harder it is to remember what each talk was about. Maybe I need to repent or something. My favorite talk had to be Sister Daltons. It s weird, because I'm actually pretty harsh when it comes to the women speaking in general conference. They have this voice that is like they speak condescendingly at me, but Sis Dalton's talk wasn't like that. She spoke of how to raise a daughter, which is one thing I am pretty scared about. Kids are something that are soon to come in my life, and I will probbaly have at least one girl, but I have no idea what to do! Her talk told me exactly what I need to do. To raise my daughter right, I need to treat her mother perfectly so she knows what to expect from a man in a relationship. Sounds good enough to me!

We also made some really good pulled pork sandwiches. Took 8+ hours too cook, but in the end it was worth it. We used Dr. Pepper to sweeten it, so that just gives you a hint of how good they tasted.

Im still tired of school. I am already doing pretty bad, and to make it worse, I missed a little class last week because of my health. I had to go to the doctor and she is telling me to lose some weight. Well, a lot of weight. Im supposed to eat a lot more vegeables and fruits and less junk. It is going to be hard, but i Guess it is time to change my lifestyle up. I want to be around for a long time to see those littlke girls I was talking about earlier!

Back to school. It was a mistake to take financial economics! The class is very difficult, and I feel like I am the dumbest person in the class. At least there is a big study group that knows what is going one that lets me join in!

Good things in my life are my wife and my fantasy football league! What more can a man ask for! haha

The Jets Lost. Poo

The Patriots lose, so the Jets have to go and follow them and lose too. How embarrassing. I also just typed embarrassing with three s's. It was quite an achievement.

I hate school. I want it to be over with and I want to move on with my life. I have a job lined up working for my brother at Jay's Plumbing and Service. My father started the company, and my older brother curt bought it a year or so ago. He wants me to come and work for him and help build the family business. I swant to get into my new job and learn everything I can about the world of plumbing sothat I can start making some money for my family. We want to start having kids, but we also both feel like it would be a good idea to wait until we have some money saved up first. Either way, its waiting. I have a year left in school. I will be graduating in August with my degree in economics. Sounds way fancier than it really is. All that it really says about me is that I can jump through hoops, and do as people tell me to. That is good enough for future employers right?

As for the reason I hate school, it is obvious. If i'm going to be working at a plumbing company, and I'm learning how to take derivatives of portfolio option in my financial economics class, it is hard to draw the line between the two. It causes me to play angry bird a lot. Maybe the birds are so angry because they would rather be eating worms than hitting blocks and stone walls!

This probably made zero sense, and I am surprised if anyone actually takes the time to read this, because I barely put the time in to type it.

I have other homework to do now Shayne. I hope this was way more than 140 words. If not, I guess i'll help the other kids with the whole 3.2 GPA average thing.

Another one bites the dust

I have Michael Vick in a fantasy football league, and he got owned tonight. The dude looks like he hurt his neck really bad. The result? I lost this week because he couldn't finish the game! Bummer. On the bright side, the Jets handled the Jaguars with complete control, and I beat one of my best friend's little brother by almost double.

These things being said, its a hard day to be a BYU fan. I had the nerve to watch the game with all Utah fans in Salt Lake with one of my best friends. Needless to say, we left in the 3rd quarter when BYU went down 20 points. That was a great call on my part!

School is fine. I am in a finance class, and I really enjoy it. I'm learning a lot of information that will help me make great financial decisions when I am placed in a position to make them. I almost fell asleep in my economics class, which is sad, because that is my major. I hate learning about grammar and all this English mumbo jumbo, but I guess it is a great life skill to have. You win this time Shayne, but only because BYU has your back.

I'm buying a storage unit tomorrow. I feel too young to need to own a storage unit. Life is just flying by, I guess. We have a couch that didnt fit into our current apartment, and we wanted to keep it, so we need to find a storage place. I wish it fit, because it is way better than the couch we bought. Or maybe we could have both couches in the living room at once. That would be epic.

NFL started

So I am in three fantasy football leagues this year. It is actually my first time doing any fantasy football, and so far, I love it so much. To get into the spirit of Fantasy Football (FF), my wife and I watched about 8 episodes of this TV show called The League. It is not very appropriate, but it is just so funny. It has my kind of humor, and it also talks about FF, so it's win win.

Anyway, three different leagues is quite fun. For one league I'm rooting for a set of players, and for another league, i may be rooting for an entirely different set of players.It really keeps the interest in the games that I normally would care less about, and boy does it work!

I really hope Frank Gore scores some touchdowns, because I do not want to lose in my league with friends from Las Vegas. I've got to win that league so I can put it in all their faces!

Aside from sports, I've decided I need to spend more time at the gym. I'm a big guy, and my wife worries about my health, so it's time to start putting some effort into it. After I got home from my mission, I was really good at going everyday. I even got to a point where I had a few friends to go with. Its nice to be single sometimes. Then, after a while, it just started to trail off, and I started to put on weight. I was just thinking about it, and I want to take these last few semesters of school to prove to myself i can make a change. I have a job lined up when I am done, so I know I can slack on school A LITTLE in order to put time into going to the gym. I went to the gym on Friday and rode the bike for 30 minutes and rode (according to the silly machine) 7.55 miles. Not too shabby i guess. Much more work to go, and I'm ready to bring this challenge on.

Hey Shayne, I'm writing a blog. Does this make you happy?

I am a horrible speller, and I am terrible at grammar. Somehow, I married a grammar Nazi. It is strange how those things work out. I have a very short attention span when it comes to writing. I literally just clicked away for like 10 minutes before i wrote that last sentence.

Here's a little information about me:
6'3" like 315 pounds. I'm a pretty big boy. I'm from Las Vegas, NV where i was born and raised, and plan to return when I am done with school. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I went to the New York Utica Mission where I taught the gospel of Jesus Christ for 2 years. I love good music. You might want more specifics on that, but I enjoy listening to people who are good at music. It is a large span of genres and that is a topic for another day. I've been married for almost 2  years, and I love my wife McKay so much. Yeah, she has a boy name, big whoop, wanna fight about it? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30GD25un0XQ) She hails from the brimming metropolis of Bainbridge, GA. She's a country girl and I'm a city boy. Ya, we need a sitcom, we know.

There's so much more to tell, but you are probably bored out of your mind reading this, so I will bore you some more.

I love sports. I love watching sports, and playing sports on a casual level amongst friends. My favorite sport is basketball. I love the NBA with a passion. I'm a giant LA Lakers fan. I am so sad the league is in a lockout right now. Football is great as well. I like pro more than college just because the college system is flawed greatly, to put it gently.
